Are you ready for the ELD Mandate?
The ELD Mandate deadline for implementation is coming December 18th. Don’t wait until the last minute to become compliant!
The mandate for Electronic Logging Devices has been published by the U.S. DOT/FMCSA and the clock is ticking for anyone currently using paper logbooks. Any driver or fleet using paper log books today (with a couple of limited exemptions) must move to Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) by December 18, 2017.

The FMCSA estimates the mandate will affect approximately 3 million trucks and drivers in the U.S. RoadLog is targeted to small fleets (1-100 trucks). There are about 1 million trucks in the small fleet segment that will need to be retrofitted to meet the mandate. Availability is very likely to become a real issue as the deadline gets closer. Other good reasons for fleets not to wait until the last minute include:
- Insuring they have sufficient time to make the transition from paper to electronic logs. Getting a fleet and its drivers to switch from paper logs to a technology they may not be familiar with has an inherent learning curve.
- Adopting ELDs ahead of the deadline allows a fleet owner to spread the costs out over time rather than having to pay for everything all at once at the last minute.
